Melanie C works up a ‘SWEAT’ on epic new single
Melanie C is turning up the heat once again! The Spice Girls star has dropped her brand-new single ‘Sweat’ — a pulsing, sweat-inducing dance-pop anthem that marks the beginning of a bold new era for the British icon. Released October 17th, the track serves as the lead single and title track from her forthcoming ninth studio album, ‘Sweat’, due May 1st, 2026.
Built around a throbbing bass-line and a propulsive synth groove, ‘Sweat’ cleverly samples Diana Ross’s 1982 single ‘Work That Body’ and finds Sporty Spice channeling the energy of the 1980s fitness craze with a modern club twist. “Sports, raving, finding joy — these elements are such a huge part of my personality,” the singer said of the track via NME. “What works in the club works in the gym — there’s a real crossover.”
The track — recorded between Stockholm and Los Angeles —signals a decisive return to dance-pop for the singer, whose previous self-titled 2020 album leaned more introspective and electronic. ‘Sweat’ instead aims straight for the dance-floor, blending throwback nostalgia with sleek, modern production that feels both timeless and refreshingly current.
The music video, which dropped alongside the single, doubles down on that message. Directed with high-gloss flair by Graham Cruz, it nods to the era of Flashdance and Jane Fonda workouts — all neon lights, leotards, and sweatbands — while reintroducing Melanie in full form: confident, radiant, and unapologetically physical.

Available to pre-order now, the album ‘Sweat’ will be released in partnership with Melanie’s own independent label Record Girl Records, and Virgin Music Group, marking the start of a new chapter in the Spice Girl’s solo career.

The ‘I Turn To You’ singer will support the release of the LP with a string of live performances throughout 2026, including a headlining show at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on October 23rd, 2026.
