Kicking off 2026 with renewed energy and a fresh creative spark, Matt Cardle returns with his brand-new single ‘Fading Lights’, the latest release from his forthcoming album ‘The Great Escape’. Blending heartfelt lyricism with a soaring, polished sound, the track signals a confident new chapter for the singer-songwriter, capturing both reflection and momentum as he steps into the year ahead.

Written by Matt along with the track’s producer Dan McDougall (Sam Ryder, Liam Gallagher, Bruno Majors) and Jim Eliot (Ellie Goulding, Kylie Minogue), ‘Fading Lights’ delivers a powerful reminder to hold on to hope, even when life’s challenges threaten to overwhelm. Its uplifting spirit is driven by a soaring, radio-ready hook, while dramatic percussion, shimmering synth touches and dynamic sonic shifts combine to amplify the track’s infectious energy.

Commenting on the track, Cardle says: “After waking up to the dark reality of the system we live in, there can be no going back to sleep. While absolutely powerless, ‘Fading Lights’ was a message to myself to not let the system crush my spirit or kill my dreams.”
